NFL schedule FAQ

When does the 2026 NFL season start and end?

The regular season began on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, with Seattle hosting New England, and ends with Week 18 on Saturday, January 9, and Sunday, January 10, 2027. Dates and kickoff times for Week 18 games are set only after Week 17, and the playoffs begin on January 16.

How many games does each NFL team play?

Seventeen, over 18 weeks. Six are home-and-away games against division rivals and eight come against two full divisions, one from each conference. The other three are against teams that finished in the same place in their division last season: two from the same conference and one from the other, hosted by NFC teams in 2026.

When are the NFL bye weeks in 2026?

Byes run from Week 5 through Week 14, and each team gets exactly one. That means all 32 teams play in each of the first four weeks and again in each of the last four, through Week 18.

What NFL games are on Thanksgiving 2026?

Three, on Thursday, November 26: Chicago at Detroit at 1 p.m. ET, Philadelphia at Dallas at 4:30 p.m. ET and Kansas City at Buffalo at 8:20 p.m. ET. The night before, Green Bay visits the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL's first Thanksgiving Eve game, and on Black Friday Pittsburgh hosts Denver.
