How to use the AFL fixture
- Pick a round from the numbered strip, or step through with the arrows. OR is the Opening Round; WC, QF/EF, SF, PF and GF are the five weeks of finals.
- Each game shows the venue and, before it is played, its start time in Sydney time with AEST or AEDT next to it, so daylight saving is never a guess.
- The box above the rounds counts games played and left, and links to the AFL ladder.
AFL fixture FAQ
Why are AFL times shown in Sydney time?
Because most games are played on the east coast and most of the audience lives there. Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart share the same clock, AEST in winter and AEDT once daylight saving starts in October. Adelaide is half an hour behind, Brisbane does not use daylight saving, and Perth is two or three hours behind.
What is the AFL Opening Round?
A short round played the week before Round 1, introduced in 2024, featuring only some clubs, usually in New South Wales and Queensland. In 2026 it had five games. For 2027 the AFL has announced a traditional nine-game Round 1 with all 18 clubs instead.
Who won the 2026 AFL Grand Final?
Brisbane, who beat Fremantle 96-89 at the MCG on Saturday September 26, 2026, in front of more than 100,000 people. Fremantle had finished the home-and-away season as minor premiers with 19 wins and four losses.
