About the NHL simulator
With the NHL simulator you decide how the 2026-27 regular season plays out, one score at a time or the whole schedule at once. The Eastern and Western Conference tables keep up with every result, counting wins, losses, overtime losses and points.
Because hockey standings run on points, two for any win and one for a loss after regulation, the simulator keeps overtime losses in a column of their own. Each team plays 84 games in 2026-27, and eight per conference, the top three in each division plus two wild cards, reach the playoffs.
How to use the NHL simulator
- Browse by month and game night, then fill in both teams' goals wherever a game is still to come.
- Let the model take over with Simulate season, or have it score only the night on screen with Simulate night.
- Both conference tables rank teams by points and mark the playoff places as results come in.
- Clear erases every entered and simulated score, while results from games already played cannot be edited.
NHL simulator FAQ
How does the NHL simulator rate the teams?
By goal differential per game in 2025-26. The difference between two clubs sets how many goals the model expects the stronger one to win by, home ice adds a little, and the random part is sized on real 2025-26 scores, so a weaker team still wins its share.
Does the simulator give a point for an overtime loss?
Yes, in games the model sends past regulation. Those end by a single goal, the losing side is credited with an overtime loss worth one point, and the conference tables rank teams by points, with two for every win.
Are offseason trades and signings included in the ratings?
No. The ratings reflect only what happened on the ice in 2025-26, so summer trades, free-agent signings and injuries are not part of them. If you think the model misjudges a team, type the scores you expect for its games instead.
