Eliteserien fixtures FAQ
How late in the year does the 2026 Eliteserien run?
Into December: round 30, the last of the league, is on Sunday, December 6, 2026. Under the federation's rules, all matches in that final round kick off at the same time, and the playoff involving the 14th-placed club follows afterward.
Who came up to the Eliteserien for 2026?
Lillestrøm and Start went up directly as the top two in the 2025 OBOS-ligaen, and Aalesund took the third spot by winning the promotion playoff against Bryne, who dropped out of the top division.
Why did the Eliteserien stop for so long in the summer of 2026?
The calendar had to make room for the FIFA World Cup. When it published the 2026 schedule, the Norwegian federation named a longer summer pause for the tournament as one of the constraints it worked around.
