Fighters compete in weight divisions. The UFC ranks eight for men, from flyweight at 125 pounds to heavyweight at 265, and three for women: strawweight (115), flyweight (125) and bantamweight (135). In a non-title bout a fighter may weigh in one pound over the limit; a title fight allows no margin.

UFC FAQ
What does UFC stand for?
Ultimate Fighting Championship. The promotion held its first event, UFC 1, on November 12, 1993, in Denver, and since September 2023 it has been part of TKO Group Holdings, the company formed when the UFC merged with WWE.
How long is a UFC fight?
Rounds last five minutes with a one-minute rest between them. Most bouts are scheduled for three rounds; title fights and, under a UFC policy dating from 2011, every main event are scheduled for five, or 25 minutes of fighting. A finish ends the bout earlier.
How is a UFC fight won?
By knockout, by a technical knockout when the referee stops it, or by submission. A fight that lasts every scheduled round is decided by three judges, who score each round on the 10-point must system: 10 points to the fighter who won the round and nine or fewer to the other.
