When do the Championship regular season and playoffs finish?
The regular season finishes on Saturday, May 1, 2027, after 46 rounds. The playoffs follow in May and end with the final at Wembley, where the third promoted club is decided.
How many matches make up the 2026-27 Championship?
Each club plays 46 league games, two against each of the other 23, for 552 matches in total. The new playoff format adds seven more: two single-leg eliminators, four semifinal legs and the Wembley final.
Which six clubs entered the Championship for 2026-27?
West Ham United, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers dropped out of the Premier League, while League One champions Lincoln City, runners-up Cardiff City and playoff winners Bolton Wanderers came up. They took the places of the three promoted clubs and of Oxford United, Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday, who went down.
