About the MLS standings
These are the 2026 MLS standings, split into an Eastern Conference table and a Western Conference table, each with the clubs' records, goals, points and last five results. In both, one band marks the seven automatic playoff places and a second marks the two wild card spots.
Each conference has 15 teams, every club plays 34 regular-season games, and a win is worth three points and a tie one. The order is final after Decision Day on Saturday, November 7, and the Wild Card round opens the playoffs on Wednesday, November 18.
How to use the MLS standings
- Read each conference on its own: the Playoffs band covers places one to seven, the Wild Card band places eight and nine.
- Columns give games played, wins, draws, losses, goals for and against, goal difference and points.
- The Form column lists the last five results, oldest to latest, as won, drew or lost.
- The box above the tables counts games played and left, and gives the date of the next game.
- Check what each team still has to play on the MLS schedule, month by month.
MLS standings FAQ
How many clubs qualify for the 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs?
Eighteen, nine from each conference. The top seven go directly into Round One, while the teams in eighth and ninth meet in a single Wild Card match, hosted by the higher seed, for the last Round One place in that conference.
What is the Supporters' Shield?
It is the trophy for the club with the best regular-season record across the whole league, regardless of conference. Fans created it in the late 1990s, and it has a practical side: the MLS Cup finalist ranked higher in the Supporters' Shield standings hosts the final.
How does Round One of the MLS playoffs work?
Round One is a best-of-three series, and the first club to win two games advances. The higher seed hosts Games 1 and 3, the lower seed hosts Game 2, and a game still level after 90 minutes goes straight to penalties, with no extra time.
Who won MLS Cup last season?
Inter Miami won MLS Cup 2025, beating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 at Chase Stadium on December 6, 2025. It was the club's first MLS Cup, won in its sixth season in the league.
