About the Serie B table
Italy's second tier in one view: this Serie B table lists all 20 clubs for 2026-27 with their record, goals, goal difference, points and recent form. Shading shows the two automatic promotion places, the playoff band from third to eighth and the three direct relegation places.
Venezia won the 2025-26 title by a single point from Frosinone, and both went up with Monza, who won the playoffs. Four clubs go down each season: the bottom three directly and the loser of the playout between 16th and 17th, or 17th outright if it finishes more than four points behind 16th.
How to use the Serie B table
- On narrow screens, team names switch to short forms and the goals-for and goals-against columns are hidden.
- 16th and 17th are not shaded, although they are the two places that can lead to the playout.
- Compare the P column before reading too much into points: postponed games can leave clubs with matches in hand.
- Project the rest of the season in the Serie B simulator or check the dates in the Serie B fixtures.

Which Serie B teams reach the playoffs, and how are they played?
Third to eighth. Fifth hosts eighth and sixth hosts seventh in single-game preliminary rounds, where extra time is played and the higher-placed side goes through if it is still level; the winners face third and fourth in two-legged semifinals, and a two-legged final decides the third club promoted.
What happens if a two-legged Serie B playoff tie ends level?
The club that finished higher in the regular season goes through, without extra time. The final has one exception: if the two finalists were also level on points, its second leg goes to extra time and, if needed, penalties. Monza went up in 2026 after a 2-2 aggregate against Catanzaro as the higher-placed side.
Who contests the Serie B playout, and who survives a level aggregate?
Sixteenth and 17th meet over two legs, with 17th at home first. If the aggregate is level, 16th stays up, unless the two finished level on points, in which case extra time and penalties decide. In 2026 Südtirol stayed up that way after two 0-0 draws with Bari.
What separates Serie B clubs level on points?
The head-to-head record comes first, measured by points and then goal difference in the games between them. Overall goal difference and goals scored follow, and if all else fails, lots are drawn.
