About the La Liga simulator

Use the La Liga simulator to settle the 2026-27 title race, the chase for Europe and the relegation fight on your own terms. Each match still to be played has two score boxes: fill them in and the standings are recomputed straight away, or let a model score one matchday or all of them.

Only the part of the season still to come is open, since every finished match counts at its real score. The projected table marks the four Champions League places, the two European spots after them and the bottom three, who would drop to LaLiga 2. In the model's ratings, Barcelona and Real Madrid start almost level at the top.

How to use the La Liga simulator

  • A result counts once both boxes of a match are filled; the table then re-sorts by points, goal difference and goals scored.
  • The model can score the matchday on screen (Simulate matchday) or all that remain (Simulate season), and the latter overwrites results you typed.
  • A counter tracks how many of the remaining matches have a score, and completed matchdays are marked in the number row.
  • Clear deletes every score you or the model added, leaving only real results.
  • The live La Liga table shows the real standings your scenario starts from.

La Liga simulator FAQ

What decides a simulated La Liga score?

A random draw from a Poisson distribution for each side, with expected goals set by the gap between the teams' ratings and a home edge: two evenly rated sides average 1.5 goals at home and 1.25 away. Ratings combine where each club finished in 2025-26 with what its squad is worth, value weighing slightly more.

Where do Racing, Deportivo and Málaga start in the ratings?

At the bottom. A promoted club's missing 2025-26 La Liga position is treated as a 19th-place finish and paired with its squad value, which leaves the three newcomers as the lowest-rated teams, Málaga last of all. Every score is still a random draw, so they pick up wins and draws too.

Does the simulator apply La Liga's head-to-head rule?

No. It sorts level teams by overall goal difference and, failing that, by goals scored. La Liga's own rules use the head-to-head record first once both meetings between the clubs have been played, so a tie in your projection may not be ordered the way the official table would order it.
